[Nfb-krafters-korner] Windows 8 help please

One thing you can do is load Jaws demo version on there to get a little bit
of a helping hand.

Then you can use Window Eyes to restart the thing when the Jaws demo mode
times out.

At least until you find your way around the computer. Then you can learn
Window Eyes.

Also, I think that Window Eyes has a Jaws key configuration so those who are
migrating to Window Eyes from Jaws will find it easier.

WWell now that you say that, my son told me to leave the computer on as it
was running all the update stuff and I didn't have any idea what it was
doing. John, is not well and in bed so I don't have any eyes to read it.

I plugged it in to the electricity last night and haven't touched it today
at all. Hopefully it downloaded updates and the new Windows update along
with it.

I know I am biting off a big chunck starting with Windoweyes and Window 8,
but I can't keep shelling out a few hundred dollors each time to upgrade
JAWS. The last time it cost me $469 j which was for the 2 step upgrade
and
contract for 2 versions upgrade. So I did that to get JAWS to work with
Windows 7 and I thought if Windoweyes is made by Windows and Windows 8 is
what they have on the computers, shouldn't everything get along and play
well together. Moment temporary dreaming...

I feel your pain, Joyce! My sister got a new desktop with 8 on it for
Christmas I had to go over and install a bunch of stuff on it and it took
me forever to find things.

On the newer keyboards, there is now only one windows key on the left, so
starting at your space bar and going to the left should be alt, windows,
control. Going to the right can vary with keyboards, especially laptops.
Typically, you get alt and context, then it really depends on the laptop
sometimes you have a control key, sometimes you may get your arrow keys and
then the control key (arrow keys are probably going to be left arrow, down
arrow, right arrow in a straight line with the up arrow above the down
arrow).

Try using windows key+d to get to the desktop, you will need to find
desktop
to find programs. Unfortunately, I don't remember how I got there at this
point.

Pray that you will get a windows update soon to 8.1, it is supposed to
bring
back the start button and hopefully that will make it easier to find
things.

Good luck.
