Can I have the pattern, please. This sounds easy for a beginner with crochet!

Terry,

You can add a crocheted book worm bookmark to the list of ideas you are compiling. I have a pattern for a crocheted bookmark called a bookworm.
The finished bookmark has a spiral of 2-4 inches at either end and a chain stitch that connects the 2 spirals. The head sticks out of the book at one end of the spine and the other end sticks out at the other end of the spine with the crocheted chain portion tucked into the pages of the book. The chain can vary in length depending on the height of the book it is to be used with. I've read where some people have added eyes and antenna at the end of one spiral to indicate the head while the other end is left as a plain spiral to represent the tail end of the worm. These are quick and easy to make. You only need to know how to do a crocheted chain stitch and either the single crochet or half double crochet.

HTH,
Annette

What I was talking about was a bookmark that I made but, it wasn't needlework. It was on a bookmark card. I put the card in my Braillewriter and used the Braille cells to make the cross. Last year, Theresa Taylor made a card with a Christmas tree on it, using the same technique, if anyone

remembers it. I can't remember why I mentioned this but, I guess someone said they'd like to make bookmarks. I'm sure there's a way to do it with knitting or crocheting, though.

I still personally like a keychain or bracelet made with the knotted design and beads or the afghan.

I have another idea. Every year at the NFBC (National Federation of the Blind of California) State Convention, we have a raffle of baskets put together by members of the various chapters around the state. Why not have a craft basket and raffle it off in either a silent auction or with raffle tickets? I know that several of the Divisions at National raffle things off

but, I don't remember a basket being raffled. Our Affiliate made quite a lot of money this year from the baskets. Maybe an online auction is a bit ambitious but, a basket at our table to be raffled isn't that ambitious.
Now, I know people are going to say that people have to bring things for the

basket. Well, don't people have to bring things they're working on and don't crafters always have things like supplies for knitting and crocheting handy? the items could be small and inexpensive or one thing could be big and other things small. I mean, my chapter did a basket called Relaxation and we had things like candles and bath stuff and gift certificates. Our basket could include things for sewing like a small sewing kit, for knitting

like needles, stitch markers maybe a pattern and some yarn, anything that signifies crafting. We could also include a gift certificate for craft places like Michaels or JoAnn's or if we do the booklet of crafts, we could include it in the basket. I can't name every kind of craft we do at KK but,

that would be up to those who create the basket. Please think about it. I really think it would be a money maker and wouldn't take that much money to put to gether. I know I would donate stuff. We could survey those who would want to do it and see what they'd like to put in the basket so there's

no duplications. I hope I've explained this well enough.

Regards,

Denise

Denise,

Yes, you have answered the survey before, and I have your answers. This time you added one that I would really like a little more comment on. I think you spoke about braille key chains with crosses in braille cell. Can you give me more details on this, please. Were these preform, needlecraft how were these made. There is still a lot more ideas out there and little by little we are getting them out. I will start up reminding people on line again shortly before our committee meeting but giving it a break for a time before starting again. These are all such good ideas, keep them coming.

Terry K
