[Nfb-krafters-korner] OT hearing aid accessory

Terry,

There is a product that is called a personal FM Loop. There are many
manufacturers of these, but my favorite is one by Williams Sound. This
product is made up of 2 parts, a transmitter and a receiver. You would have
the receiver and wear either a headset, or a "neck loop" that would work
with the T-coil setting of hearing aids. The transmitter picks up sound
from a variety of sources which can include a lapel mic to be worn by one
presenter, a conference mic which sits on the table and picks up the voices
of everyone around the table, or a direct connection to an audio source like
a computer, MP3 Player, book reader, etc. The reason I like the Williams
Sound product is because the receiver also has a mic on it so that you can
turn down the volume of the sound coming from the transmitter and be able to
hear what someone next to you is saying directly to you. This is something
that your agency can provide to you as an accommodation at work.

I am testing a new product at work called the Williams Sound Counter Top
Loop. It is designed for customer service counters. It consists of a box
that sits on the counter that has a built-in mic that picks up the voice of
the customer service provider. When a customer wearing a hearing aid
equipped with a T-coil stands in a 3 foot radius of the box, they can hear
the customer service provider's voice. You can also connect this box to the
computer and create a loop in front of your computer.

HTH,
Annette
.

That is very interesting, Becky! I might need to get some, some day. Some
people I have no trouble with and others, do not talk loud enough.
I have trouble with conference rooms, and most of the time, people do not
talk up and a mike is not used.

Deb, if you have't had hearing aides before, be fully aware that you will
have to go back to the audiologist several times to get a setting, mixing of
sounds, That works for only you in various settings. I went back probably
five six times to get this setting I just adore. I can hear in restaurants
around the table, hear at seminars, hear in doctor's offices, shopping with
friends etc. I can't figure out if everyone is talking at once like at
parties with music and what I call white noise. But corner a small group at
that same party and I can hear, lol.

I hated my hearing aide at first. It made me so mad. It sounded like I was
in a box, growl. Then someone told me to go back to the audiologist. That
second set of adjustments was better, but still, growl. Oh I was so unhappy
when we went to the symphony and they sounded like high school practice was
on. I was ready to throw them away. Now music still doesn't sound right,
but it is better.

So it won't be perfect in all situations. So what was important to me is
what my audiologist and I worked on. I love my hearing aide now, smile.

Becky and the complaining Jake , Cants gets away with nothin', sniff.

I'm getting the Odicons. They are in the ear with a piece that goes over
the ear.

Deb, which kind of hearing aids are you getting, in the ear of behind the
ear? I have worn behind the ear for years and have no issues with losing
them. ok well maybe there was this one time..lets just say, don't have them
on when riding a roller coaster, LOL Barb On May 5, 2014, at 9:44 PM, Deb
