Subject: [Nfb-krafters-korner] OT: my garden club's fiftieth anniversary

Hello all,

I wanted to share the exciting news that my garden club is celebrating our
fiftieth anniversary as a garden club by having a huge flower show. and yes,
just in case you wondered, there are three members who joined the club who
are still in the club. One woman is 92. Anyhow, the flower show will be held
in the community center on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend and we will
be showing 36 different flower arrangement all made by our members as well
as 36 different types of flowers, fruits, vegetables and herbs also grown by
our members. Everything in the show is going to be judged by people who have
certifications as flower show judges and many ribbons will be awarded. Then
the public comes in free of charge to look at it all. We are a civic
organization so the flower show is a public service for the public to learn
from and enjoy.

I love these flower shows, I always get a few ribbons and it is fun to go
around and see what arrangements and plants others have submitted to the
show.
Tonight I just finished creating my flower arrangement. I used maple
branches, dried yarrow flowers, dried lotus pods, some fresh azalea leaves
and some gold ting to glitter. (ting is sort of like a thin wire in a gentle
coil.)

Oh yes, I almost forgot to mention that in this particular show there will
be a couple of tables dedicated to displaying the hobbies of garden club
members. I have created a Xmas display to show off my various craft
interests. I have a safety pin beaded flower pot, and in the pot I have two
branches, and on the forks of the sticks I have placed a knitted Xmas
stocking, 2loom knit Xmas bells, one macramé snowflake and a crocheted star.
In the bottom of the pot I have small evergreen branches and everything is
Xmas colors of red, white, green and gold.

Anyhow, just thought I'd share and I'll either brag about my ribbons next
week or say nothing in which case you know I didn't win a thing!

Cathy F
