I wind the starting thread round that peg to get it out of the way. This is
my first try with the t-shirt yarn, think that's why I made the mistake,
hopefully learnt something from this mistake, smiles.
I finished my carpet this evening. It doesn't look too bad for a first. It
is also larger than it seemed to be while still on the loop.

May I suggest that instead of using the peg on the side or anchor peg as it
is called to mark your empty peg for doing flat work, put something on the
peg. Put tape on the top or wrap paper around that peg and put a rubber
band. Do anything so when you run into it, your hands will "see" it and just
know it's there. By using the anchor peg, you don't normally feel down there
and that because of its location would work more as a point of reference by
sight. I don't want to think when I craft. I want to let my hands and brain
have cues that jump out and say hi remember me. I say hi back and do
whatever is called for at that particular cue.

It is the largest of the set of 4 round ones plus the one with 5 and 8 pegs
at the top and bottom.

Yes. It has a peg on the side so you know when you completed one row. I miss
it sometimes when I'm working while talking to friends.

I don't have a clue what size it is but it has 41 pegs, if that can help,
smiles.
I leave 1 peg empty making it easier to feel where the first few rows end.
At first I didn't do that and then not concentrating, I joined the two
halves and had to start again.

I buy the t-shirt string, if I can call it that, in1K ball. It looks like
the binding one use to work off a neckline or round the arm holes when
making a dress or top. The one I use at present is a bright yellow and
rather stiff and stretchy which makes it somewhat hard to work with. It is
almost like strong elastic you use in skirts or trousers. I prefer the
softer less stretchy t-shirt string but this was the last ball they had.
I also bought some raffia to try a handbag for a small girl. Will have to
see how that will work on a smaller round loom.

Wow, a rug by your bed sounds like a good project. once we had a class on
making a doormat using plastic bags, but no one has ever taught a class on
how to make a rug on a loom.
I am not certain what you mean by "tee shirt string." Is this cotton yarn or
have you cut tee shirts into strips and used them like yarn?
