You might check at Walmart stores now for fabric.  I went yesterday and got holiday fabric from last year for $1.50 per yard.  This was cotton, but the lady helping me said that they were moving out a lot of old stuff to make room for the new.  So there might be fleece from last year as well.

Another cheap source of fleece is to look at the fleece throws at your Walmart or other such stores. They have team ones and solid ones and who knows what you might find. Sometimes they have them real cheap. So, if you want to make a pillow or other project that is small  enough, you may save money by buying one of these and cutting it up. You won’t have the variety to choose from. But, if your goal is warmth over perfect color, it might work. I saw queen size for $5.00 in green, brown, grey, and a couple other colors.
