Hi all, Hettie was asking about the figure 8 loom and how it works.
At this point I am aware of 3 different versions, the Serenity loom, the kb afghan loom and the cindwood afghan looms.
These looms have been called figure 8, s shaped, infinity, blanket and afghan looms. These looms allow one to make afghans, throws and blankets in one piece without the need to sew pieces together.

- The Serenity Loom: I’m not sure this loom is available anymore as there were lots of problems with it, I’ve heard it being called “a cheap plastic” loom.
- The KB Super Afghan loom: by Authentic Knitting Board, Regular gauge "S" shaped loom
Knit a 60" afghan in one piece!!

Hi-grade plastic loom with 198 pegs, smooth finish, 7/16" gauge. Size 11" X 19".
The rounded construction and shape allow for many stitches without taking up much room. Lightweight and smooth finish makes this loom a joy to use. Knit shawls, afghans, and much more in single knit. Use all 198 pegs or less for smaller projects.
My note: there have found a way to double knit on this loom, it requires marking certain pegs as you will bot be able to use all pegs. I do have this loom and have a current project on it. At first I had a little trouble with the pegs being so close together but have since mastered it.

CinDwood Universal S looms: Our universal loom can be used as a single or double rake afghan. Included is a movable wedge with a peg that is used in the inside groove of the loom so you can also knit round tubes in any size. Colored marker pegs aren’t wrapped if using the figure 8 wrap on the double panel. Comes in 3 sizes and two gauges. 1/2 inch gauge is tighter and finer yarns can be used. 5/8 inch gauge has more space between each peg for easier.
My notes: I have the largest one of these looms and have done both single and double knit projects. The marked pegs are visually marked, would require some sighted help to tactically mark these pegs.

Hope this helps and if you have any further question let me know, if I don’t know the answer I’m sure I can find it, lol
Barb
