Lindey,

If you re looking for color chord to wrap around a pot, use the macramae cord and glue it. It comes in different thicknesses and an array of colors.

Hi Barb, it sounds very interesting. I have done a tray and a photo frame in mosaics before, but not any outdoor stuff. We are moving into spring here in the southern hemisphere, so maybe a bird feeder or a wind chime might be something to think about trying.
One simple craft I have done is to wind some thin rope around a large tin can to make a pot for a plant. You could use a large can, like a coffee can or one of those cans with mixed fruit. I punched a few holes in the bottom for drainage. I left the paper on the can and plastered glue all over it. Then I started to wind some rope tightly around the can, working from the top edge of the can, pulling it up as I went. The glue made it stick to the can and when it was done it covered the can completely. It feels like a rough kind of fabric with a sort of rustic look to it.
I was planning to make a set of three pots of different sizes maybe, but so far I've only done one.
The rope is brown, but I was wondering how some vibrant colors might look if I could find some colored cord or rope?
I am also thinking of making a macrame pot plant holder, but only working on the idea so far.
I thought a variation on the rope covered pot might be to first knot or plait the rope into a design and then to glue it to the pot?
Lindy

Garden art crafts are outdoor decor one makes to place in their yard/garden to enhance it’s beauty, such as wind chimes, gazing balls, whirligigs/spinners, decorative stepping stones, decorative birdbaths, totems just to name a few. I have been making gazing balls using bowling balls and glass flat marbles and trying to teach myself some mosaic. I also just made a butterfly and dragonfly from a wire whisk and beads. And I was curious if anyone else does things like this. Did you know you can made a birdbath out of clay pots or how about bird feeders, totems and flowers from glassware? I realize that a lot of them are “visual” crafts, but not all.
