Lauren,

Many guide dog schools use this type of collar also called a chain collar. 
We are taught the proper way to put the collar on and the proper way to use 
it. We do not use the collar in a way that ever harms the dog in any way. 
The schools watch us. If we were doing something incorrectly, they would be 
the first to correct us.  We would never do anything harmful for our guides. 
They give us our independence and being connected to them through the leash 
so much creates a bond unlike any that most will ever experience. They are 
not just dogs to us.

Lauren;
Henry's dog, Sophie and many other guide dogs have these collars.  They do 
not hurt the dog, at all.  They have a connecter ring and you connect a 
leash.   If you pull on the leash, it tightens the collar by maybe an inch. 
It is actually pretty on a black dog!  It looks like she is wairing a 
necklace.
Just because it is called a chocker, does not mean any harm is being done. 
Is any harm being done when a woman whairs a chocker necklace?
Chocker is a term for tight fitting.

The black Lab according to the directions use white beads for the eyes   So
I am thinking of possibly using the white bead and a black majic marker to 
add a dot on the white bead.

Now here is another thought as I did get special beads and going to give it 
a try.  Since guide dogs have choke chains for collars I got some beads that 
have silver sparkles .  I was going to use that on miy doggie ornament.  The 
original pattern uses a red collar with a yellow bead for a dog tag.  So you 
have a choice for the collar.

first of all,will the black lab keychains have brown beads in them for the 
eyes? Also,did you say that you will be selling the pumpkin,ghost,and cat 
kits as a trio package? As of right now,terry and I will be buying the 
dogs,and the pumpkin,ghost,and cat kits, Please keep us posted on the 
prices.

I am teaching the Santa ornament on August 26   I purchased all the supplies
and made up kits and basically sold them to my students and mailed them out 
this week to everyone.  I provided small plastic bags and Braille the first
2 letters of each color and put it in the bag with the beads.  I got the 
silk cord and enclosed that, too.

I will be teaching in September 2 more classes which will be A Lab dog with 
choice of color of dog[yellow, black or chocolate] and a black cat with 
green eyes.

In October I will do 3 classes for Halloween and have kits available [ghost 
with glow in the dark beads, black spider & a Jack O Lantern.

Of course I will follow up in November with 2 Holiday ones to hang on the 
tree or decorate your packages with.

I have heard from a few of you that you received your Santa kits.

I just wanted to explain how I labeled them.

I put the first 2 letters of each color either in the bag or taped on the 
bag.  So you might have to turn the Braille paper around to figure out top & 
bottom.  As far as the white silk cord, I put 2 yards for each kit.  I did 
not cut it.  I want to say after finishing my kit you have a lot of silk 
cord that is extra.  So experiment.  For the one that I made I want to say I 
could have used 12 inches less from the 2 yards and this is 18 rows long.

I haven't decided yet, but I am thinking of putting 2 small bells hanging on 
the 2 cord ends.

Not sure what size, but I am going to look around.  So I am not going to 
trim off those long ends yet.

Just something to think about.
