Wait a minute... Just hang on. I made a mistake. The archives go back to
October 2008 on this list, but the list was started September 2007. As we
had our first official meeting held in July 2008

Gee whiz there is a year of emails missing. I don't remember but our first
telephone class given by Laurie Porter was either in June or July 2008. It
was either just before or after the membership meeting held in Dallas that
the board members were voted in and the Constitution was written and voted
in.

It will be 8 years next July that I was voted in as President. I took this
idea, "It would be really cool if blind people could get together and
learn/teach each other how to craft without sight. I had that thought
flying back home after 2007 Convention held in Atlanta, Georgia. I had just
lost the election for 1st Vice President of the Diabetes Division after
bouncing around as board member, secretary for a couple of years and 1st VP
for a year.

Since I knew a lot of folks in Baltimore it seemed natural for me to call
down there for advise on starting this.

Joyce

Hi Terry K,

I joined the e-mail list July 19, 2008, paid dues August 2, 2008, and taught
my first class September 6, 2008. The class was the Origami Water Bomb

In my personal e-mail archives, I found an e-mail from August 26, 2008 that
mentioned a topic discussed at the Monday night chat (Monday, August 25,
2008) was Bead Looming.

Cindy Sheets posted to the list on November 17, 2008 that there was a new
Blog set up for Krafters Korner to help get the word out , and that a
website would be ready soon. The website was still being worked on as of
December 29, 2008.

Annette

This is a message for everyone but especially Kathy F,

I would like to have a History of KK if it goes on the website or not. Kathy
you are so very good at finding out things and organizing it so well, would
this be something you might consider. KK has about reach a milestone. If I
am correct KK was established 10 years this year. Do not know if this is
correct. I do know Joyce Kane founded this group but in what year? I know
she joined it with NFB as a division, but do not know when. I know about the
link in braille monitor but that was limited. Who are the original board
members, are they still here? Who is the longest member still here? Is there
a charter member list? Then the small details like what crafts were the
first, what we have expanded to from say start 10 classes to 67 in 2014. Now
we need to state we have gone to email classes in 2015. When did we go
Internationally, what different countries have joined us? I would like to be
proud of where we have come from and what we have done. I have been here for
8 of the 9 years and I am sure others like Terry P and Dixie possibility 9,
not sure. Unfortunately times moves on for all of us, people pass or leave,
and we need some roots to be proud of the accomplishments we have done. Past
Board members, that they get the credit for their effort in moving this
group along. Maybe even something to show our 10 years of service. I might
even suggest if this is a good history, to have it printed and sent out or
given as 10 years of service to the blind community. May Joyce live many
more years but some marriages do not last this long and we need to know
where we came from and where we are going. Each Crafter Matters, sorry had
to get that in. So Kathy you are so good at these things would consider
doing this research? Everyone else needs to express what they think to help
out.

Terry K
