Portia,

What classes did you take this year? One offered was a loom knit headband.
So, if I took that class, what can I do with that pattern. I can make
headbands for everybody in my town and keep making them. Or, I can realize
what is a napkin ring? It's a little tiny headband! How can I make a napkin
ring? Maybe a spool knitter? Joyce taught us the pony bead pumpkin. Well,
maybe I don't like jack-o-lanterns. So, could I teach that pattern as a
pumpkin with no eyes? Could the technique make a grapefruit or a snowball?
Joyce taught us how to make a plastic Santa squeezem. I need an Easter
project for the grandkids school class. What could I do? Maybe I could take
that concept and make a duck, chick, green eyed monster, ... KK gives us the
basic technique. We then let our creativity out and we make something else.
We can then teach our creation Maybe I didn't like the idea of that Squeezem
she taught cause I just think Santa is goofy. But, I may really get into
your green eyed monsters and I may learn something. Just because a class was
taught, new people are coming onboard all the time. Maybe someone just
missed the class. So, somebody needs to teach it again! The first instructor
taught one way. The second person does things a little different or is a
better explainer or more creative or more fun as a teacher or a closer
friend. Who knows. So, teacher 2 may be the one who is able to get the
concept through my thick head. So, guess what, you can do this with no
reading required!

Greg

Same here. I don't have someone to read or at least look at the material
that does not have print but figures on it.

But, I will learn from those that teach something.

Hi,
Some of us don't have family around for reading printed materials or
providing errands to stores. I have enjoyed learning new crafts here that I
didn't have the resources to be able to do by myself.
Thanks,
Lauren

Dear folks:

This is to each one of you. You have learned many different craft skills
here at the NFB Krafters Division [Krafters Korner[. There are lot more to
learn in the craft world.

I want to give you all a challenge/New Year's Resolution. As Cathy
mentioned, I would like each one of you that have been here at Krafters
Korner for at least one year to find a new craft or new craft project that
you have never done before and teach yourself how to do it. You have folks
here all around the World that can help you out if you get stuck. All you
need to do is ask here. Do not share the pattern with everyone, as once you
have taught yourself, I would like you to teach a class and teach everyone
else how to do it.

I don't want to hear, " I can't do that". Find a website and start making
new friends by asking questions regarding supplies, how to's and advise how
to learn.

That is how a lot of us learned how to do things. I never did basket
weaving, but I was taught how to chair cane and checked around on the
websites and found some basket kits and contacted the online place and asked
which would be a good beginner's kit. Then got a kit and had to get someone
to read it and I typed it up. Then I sent my questions into a couple of
basket places to learn what the directions meant or referred to.

Yes, that is how I learned and got good enough at some of the simple kits
and taught them here. I did that with several different crafts since I went
blind. Oexample: weaving, soap making, beading, making socks on an old sock
machine, basket making, candle making, etc.]

Here is your new challenge for 1016.

Joyce Kane
