Three stitches of garter stitch on each side will do what you want. It would also probably look appropriate with your end border of garter. If the scarf is wide, you could use four garter stitches at each side.

Subject: [Nfb-krafters-korner] Knitting Question

Hi All;
I am planning to needle knit a scarf on size 9 needles, using worsted weight yarn,I am doing a 10 row Garter stitch border, and a Reverse Stockinette stitch body. What stitch should I use for the edge along the sides to prevent the project from curling up on me?
I don’t have the ability to block or steam the scarf to keep it flat.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
henry
