Terry,

I looked up this Drops Karisma | Knitting Yarn & Wool and it is a sport
weight yarn 100% washable, suggested needle size is 4.

This would not work out with the directions I will give you.  You need a
worstered weight yarn with size 8 needles.  These mittens can be made for
adults, & children by adjusting the pattern.

Now if you use the above yarn with the suggested needle size they might work
up OK for a younger child with some adjustment, but you will have to figure
that out.

If you use size 9 needles
This will make the mittens larger and the knit looser.

It will have to be up to you.
