I went thru 3 try on for this wrist brace. I didn't know how it was suppose to feel. The P A told me the cast was a bit tight when she started cutting it off my arm. Then mid way thru she asked me if I minded being a guinea pig as she handed the saw over to a newbie in the office to finish cutting it off. My friend was there with me and said she was waiting for the blood to start spurting. I really was holding on to the opposite side of the cast to keep the rest of my hand away from where she was cutting.

I ended up with the large size brace and it feels less tighter and more comfortable then the cast and a lot, did I say Lot lighter...

Terry, When you get your splint, make sure it can accommodate your ability to hold and push your walker. Best thing is to try different splints on.
When I broke my wrist the splint I picked out was better than my doctor would have chosen, he told me. My therapist had carpel tunnel and something wrong with her thumb, so she had a lot of splints that did not work for her.
She let me try her old ones on. When I tried the one I liked I had an audible sound of relief it felt so perfect. However, and there is always a however, I can't use my cane very well. So I got another one with a Velcro strip that goes around my wrist. It is a fingerless glove with a thick Velcro strip that goes around your wrist. I have support for my wrist, and I could use my cane. So the first one from the therapist is great to work my guide dog, but that second one is better when I use a cane. I got the second
at Wal-Mart. The first was thirty dollars from an online pharmacy.

So try different ones on and see which works better with your walker.

I don't have any experience with trigger finger. My Uncle had this problem, but he just kept his fingers balled up. Eventually he could barely move them. So thank you for being proactive with your health care.

Paws up from Jake!

Becky;
Any advice for someone with possible trigger finger. I am having trouble bending my finger. Need to go and get a splint, today. How fun, having to use it at convention. She finally said I could use it at night. I said, how can I use my cane or walker, with that on my hand? She would not give me a cortisone shot. Have to go for therapy after convention, how fun!
Always something!
I bet I over did it, trying to do to many crafts for conventions.
Could be imflation or B12 problems, too.
Nothing is keeping me home on the big 75!!!

Joyce, soak that wrist and move it slowly in the warm water. Lay it on a pillow to sleep especially the first couple of nights. But soak and move the fingers bend the wrist slowly. Then practice out of the water moving the fingers and gently bending the wrist. Then get it right back in the splint.
The pain will go away faster and you will get better mobility faster. But slowly, gently. Also great you are rubbing the cream in. Massage the cream in slowly carefully to loosen those fingers and wrist. Just take your time.

Warm hugs,
Becky and the most excellent Jake

This darn Outlook freezes up and don't let me keep typing. It seems like everytime I get an email and the little music plays.

I need to practice how to type again without the heavy thing. Man, my arm feels so light now.
