Greg,
Thanks for this, at least I have a name to search for now. I do remember
Hersherrs did carry this a way back, but already checked them and nothing, I
am going to write customer service. Coffee filters are pleated unless I
could find flat ones, thanks for the idea. I will let you know how my search
is going. Thanks.

Terry,

What you are talking about is called a milk filter doll. The circles may
have been six inches. You should check farm supply stores since these are
used to filter milk. Herschner's at one time at least sold a kit. Another
suggestion was to cut a templet out of poster board and cut circles of
pellon which is available from the fabric store. I don't know enough about
this. Could you use coffee filters?

Henry,
There are two different kinds, As I search, there is a crochet dress bed
doll, where the dress is crochet along with hat. But the one I am looking
for is made with paper discs and is also very round and full. It was a craft
doll that our Moms made back in the time. I keep remembering a French bed
doll, but keep coming up with nothing online.

Hi Terry K.;
I remember my Mom and Aunt making these dolls, but,I don't know what they
were called except bed dolls.
The yarn bows hung down to make the dress look more frilly, right?

Greg,

The discs are about 4 to 6 inches round, and they came in a flat box like a
tissue box, and the discs came out one at a time. You made a small hole in
the side of the disc and using a thin yarn, you attached one disc to the
next making a small bow and continued doing this until you made it as big as
you liked it, then you made the next round, attaching when completed with
above row on the top making the same bows. The dolls hat was made using one
disc and cutting out the circle for back of head, making a floppy hat. And
you did the same thing for the bust of the doll, taking a disc, cutting a
hole over the head and fitting that disc over the body, I think gluing that
on and attached the skirt to the waist of the doll. This is an old craft and
I will research it farther. Thanks for the help.

Terry,

I know that Horizons for the Blind or Marjorie Arnott sells crochet bed doll
patterns. But, I thought they were bigger than Barbie size. Where does this
disk go and what is it's purpose? Can you describe it for me? I have some
ideas.

I need some help from those who remember this old craft. Is there anyone out
there who remember the 1950 craft called Bed Dolls? These were a type of
Barbie size dolls made into a 3 tier skirt that you placed on your bed after
making it up. The skirts were made with a round circle disc that was a
testured paper or felt like fabric but not cloth. I am looking for the name
of those discs to see if they still make them. If anyone remembers these
dolls please let me know anything you remember. My Mom made so many of these
back then is so many different colors from pink, white, all colors. I will
do a computer search but if anyone can help, I have I have 6 grandaughters
and need to get started on my Christmas gifts soon. Appreciate anyones help.
