Now I need to say I didn't go to the Monday Night Chat so I may not have the correct answer for you.  

The prayer shawls I know about are made and donated to cancer or ill folks.  You donate them to cancer centers or such places like that.  While you make them[this is where I am not sure about], but you say a prayer  for who ever wwill get the shawl.  I do not know if there is a special prayer written for you to say or what.  I think you need to send your positive thoughts and wishing well along with the shawl and pass it on to someone that needs it.

We will be having Theresa kicking off this class in June as a telephone class and it will be a crocheted shawl.  We will do the knitted shawl in July and follow up with a loom shawl for August.  We hope to continue this on a monthly basis for a total of 12 months offering new shawl patterns done in these three type of stitching.

I am in the dark, what is a prayer shawl? I Googled for it and learnt that it is a garment Jewish men wear, has the purpose change over the years?
