[Nfb-krafters-korner] Junior crafters group

I do like the idea, but I think I would want a parent/teacher with the student until we(KK teachers) get a sense if the youth can handle the non-visual information given to them over the phone. Some adult students learning a new craft have gotten frustrated learning this way and I would hate for a child to get frustrated and not able to go on.

Hi Maryann;
I think that this is a great idea. It would help to boost a childs self esteem,and confidence. I'd like to help out with this Junior Crafters Division.
What do you think Joyce and board?

I am a teacher of students who are blind and visually impaired and on groups for parents to help answer questions. Parents are starting to have discussions about Christmas presents for blind children and one mom said she taught her daughter to make pot holders on a loom. That made me think this might be a great way to expand our group. We could begin a group for the junior blind so they could learn crafting from a young age. I have noticed that many things my generation would not be caught dead doing are popular with my children and their children. I would certainly be happy to help get the information out if this is something we would like to work on. We could set up a few special classes for kids. I am thinking of kids 10 and older but that is just a thought.
