Lauren,

Looms are like everything else. Some people won't drive anything but a Ford. 
Others think they're awful and call them Fix or Repair Daily vehicles lol. 
Barb is in my opinion, one of the best loom knitters. She doesn't like that 
hook at the top. Well, since I bought Boye looms before talking to anybody, 
I like that feature. To me, I don't have trouble getting my loops off and 
fear that without it, I'd be dropping stitches. I will for sure try a 
different brand one day. So, if a Boye loom is what is in your budget and 
available, it might be your first loom. I'll tell you this. If you start 
loom knitting, it's like any other hobby. It is a matter of time before you 
will just have to have another loom or that yarn or something lol.

I hope my comment doesn't end this discussion. I'd like to hear other 
people's thoughts too. Convince me why I don't want to try another one (big 
smile). What should go on my Christmas list?

Because they have a crochet like hook at the top of the peg and when your 
trying to knit off it catches your loop making you have to struggle a bit to 
get it off.
