Lauren,

If you know how to knit a hat on the round loom, it's not that
difficult to adjust it to knit a flat panel. When you cast on for a
flat panel, instead of joining the last stitch to work in the round,
you would just work back and forth the number of pegs you are using
for the flat panel. For instance, if you have a 24 peg loom, you can
cast on pegs 1-20, and then work backwards from pegs 20-1, and then
1-20 again. Hope this helps.
