Ah yes, the kids did that with T shirts at Girl Scout camp.  They used pony beads I think.  At least that is what type of beads they have up at Girl Scout Camp.  They did get shirts way larger then they take and cut strips and then threaded the T shirt material thru several beads   Some of them cut the shirts in a V shape center front and center back going upward on the sides Keeping them long enough to cover themselves   They also did this on the short sleeve bottom in the front part of the sleeves.

I don't think you can toss something like this into the washer and dryer, but it was definitely a fun project and made some cool shirts.

I also like the idea of beading on fabric, like on a t-shirt. One idea I have seen is a t-shirt that someone bought for my 8 yo daughter. The bottom hem and the sleeves of the t-shirt have been cut into narrow strips. Maybe 4 inches or longer and quite thin. Then a bead is threaded onto each thin strip and a knot made below the bead to keep it in place.
For this to work I think the shirt has to be quite long so that when the strips are cut the body of the shirt isn't too short, if that makes sense.
What I also love about this shirt is the sound that is made when my daughter moves. It is a beautiful, soft clicking sound and I always joke with her that she can't hide when wearing that shirt.
Another idea you might think about is combining knotting or macrame with beading. One can make jewelry pieces like bracelets and necklaces, belts and even skinny scarves using macrame or what is sometimes called micro macrame.
I have also been wondering if it would be possible to make shapes using beads on fabric. I am thinking one could, e.g. pin a template, like a heart made from felt or paper, onto fabric and then place your beads all around the template, using either glue or maybe thread or embroidery floss or even cotton yarn. Then you could remove the template afterwards?
Just thinking out loud.

H’mm... Joyce, I AM a beginner at beading, and, as I reflect on some of the recent KK postings, realize I’m quite a bit more flexible on choice of project than I thought: meaning, I always wanted to make jewelry, but am also willing to learn flower-pots, lighthouses and... maybe there are even ways to decorate picture-frames? I’d like to do all kinds of jewelry, including things that have Christian themes. Also sticking to the tee-shirt idea from earlier. Seed beads not problematic; more willing to use plastic beads for things like flower-pots, but not jewelry, because of aforementioned tactile issues. My faves are glass or metal or gem beads or pearls, preferably round but that’s not a deal-breaker—just like smooth more than rough—again, not a complete deal-breaker. I get the impression that there are infinite possibilities, as with crocheting, and I will never be bored! Speaking of crochet, I did a sweater once that had glass beads, but learned that they made it way too heavy, so if I were to do that again, I’d either find a way to sew very few on, or go for seed beads on maybe an embroidery-floss vest or something. I’d like to start without too many tools, because, as a beginner, I’d feel more comfortable not having anything between my hands and the work, but consider that, as I advance, I might feel more capable of using tools. I definitely decided to follow through, though, and am going shopping at AC Moore for some starter supplies and a divided box (preferably with individual lids for each compartment—failing that, can put tiny Braille label inside each for colors). So, no turning back, after tomorrow’s shopping trip!! Scary thought!

Another reason for saving the previous message is to retain the website info for those sites for obtaining patterns. Still looking for some for beading, too.

I had Outlook in my previous job, and the reason I got Win. LiveMail is that the interface is more like Outlook and simpler to use than the regular Gmail interface—so, I have Gmail with Windows LiveMail. I may do some more research on how Windows LiveMail works to see if there’s a way to organize posts within a message, which is my main issue, and to not have to repeatedly skip past material already read in a message. So, am keeping the KK note about Outlook in case I need it, but may not need it. As to re-arranging my inbox according to messages, I’m glad for Greg’s warning about the hassle that would be—I will not re-invent that wheel! (major grin).
