I agree completely with you Henry with that one exception. They were not 
good hot lol. But, do I smell hot Chocolate Chip? Wonder if I can grab the 
milk before Henry gets here.

Everyone knkows that cookies are best eaten when hot off the cookie sheet.
my Dad and I got many a burned finger practicing this when Mom made cookies.

A word to the wise about Shortbread. If you steal one from the pan, don't be
disappointed when it is not good lol. Almost threw out a whole recipe once
because of that. Shortbread requires aging at least a day to be good.

One would be surprised how many people just buy cookie dough and add to it,
bake the cookies and they taste delicious and like a person put a great deal
of work into making them. When I've used cookie dough, I didn't take the
credit! Perhaps, Jill is looking for cookies baked from scratch.

Here's a good cookie recipe for shortbread cookies.

One pound butter
2 cups of powdered sugar
two cups of flour
two cups of cornstarch

In a large bowl, cream the butter adding the powdered sugar until creamy.

Mix the flour and cornstarch and gradually add to the above mixture. The
dough must be smooth. Due to thickness, one will have to knead the dough as
if for bread.. The dough should be smooth to the touch. One can add 1 tsp of
vanilla to the creamed mixture if desire.

Shape the cookie dough into  round balls and place on an ungreased cookie
sheet. Using a fork, just slightly press down on dough. Bake in the oven for
12 to 15 minutes at 375 degrees. Allow cookies to cool before removing. Do
not place cookies too close together.

This is a recipe that a friend gave me many years ago! The cookies melt in
one's mouth. I always made them at Christmas time.
