Dottie;
In the past, we have suggested that people start with a strechy yarn, such as Woolies Thick and Quick.
Beginners tend to knit tight and this way they will be able to move their stitches, until they learn to control their tention.

Also, our revised site, no longer categorizes the classes by their craft.

Ball of Worsted weight or bulky
Round loom of your choice, 36 pegs is recommended for this project Loom tool Tapestry needle Measuring tape or row counter
