Hi,
I wonder if it is the quilted fabric that you can buy and then just put a
binding around. Someone made me a blanket for John when he was a baby like
that. His nursery was Noah's Ark theme and this blanket was done in the
precious moments design of Noah's Ark.

I do not know about this fabric with the backing you are asking about and I
am a quilter.

My thoughts on this is you can use for the backing cotton flannel and use a
layer inside for the batting. That way it will be soft and not too thick to
quilt. Of course you can use cotton batting and one layer of cotton flannel
to back it and that is perfect for babies.

Now for sizing The crib size or small ones you make for babies range in
size and, you know they don't stay small for too long. So if you want them
to use this for the first 6 months I would shoot for like 45 by 54 which
will last thru toddler age. They usually make it a little less then 45" due
to fabric being 45" wide. That way you don't have to piece the backing.

I hope you join our class in October for the quilted table topper.

Hi all,
I've been hand quilting for years, and right now I'm just making bow-tie
squares and setting them aside to eventually make a quilt. Well, my
step-sister is pregnant with a boy and I decided I'd like to make her a
quilt for the baby. Only problem is, all the fabric squares I already have
made are either floral patterns or pink, LOL. So, I purchased some more
boyish fabrics. I'm doing a basic 4 inch square pattern with about 8
different print fabrics. I'm trying to decide how big this blanket/quilt
should be. Should I make it to fit a toddler bed? Or smaller? Also, the
last baby quilt I made, for the backing, I used this really nifty fabric
that already came with the quilt filling/stuffing attached. It wasn't too
thick, but it worked perfectly. I am not sure if they still make fabric like
this, and if so, where to purchase it. Do you all know if I can still get
this? Also, please let me know your thoughts on the size. Thanks!
Deanna
