Basic God's Eye Directions

What you'll need:

2 Popsicle sticks

Yarn

Optional: Dab of glue

Description:

A God's eye is a diamond shape, in which yarn is wrapped from the
intersection of the 2 sticks, and around each stick, making each wrap to the
outside of and next to the prior wrap.

Step 1: Place 2 Popsicle sticks perpendicular to each other crossing at the
center.

Step 2: Tie the tail of your yarn diagonally across the intersection of the
2 sticks

Step 3: Bring your working yarn to the front of your project, and have the
knot you just made to the back.

Step 4: With the 4 tips of your sticks pointed in the 12, 3, 6, and 9
o'clock positions; we will number these 1, 2, 3, and 4 respectively.
Position your sticks so you're working yarn is coming up between stick 3 and
4.

Step 5: bring your working yarn across the front, and down between 1, and
2, behind 1, up between 1 and 4. Snug the working yarn to the center of the
piece. Now bring it across between 2 and 3, behind 2, up between 1, and 2.
Again, snug the yarn. Now, across and down between 3 and 4, behind 3, up
between 3 and 2, across and down between 4 and 1, behind 4, up between 4 and
3, up and across to between 1, and 2, behind 1 and up between 1 and 4. This
next round will sit just outside the last round, lying just next to it.
Continue across and down between 2 and 3, behind 2, up between 2 and
1,snugging as you go, across and between 3 and 4, behind 3, up between 3
and 2, across and down between 4 and 1, behind 4, up between 4 and 3, across
and down between 1 and 2, behind 1 and up between 1 and 4, continuing in
pattern.

Step 6: In order to end your work, just tie off to the number 1 stick,
making sure that your knot is to the back. You can put a dab of glue on the
knot to make sure it doesn't unravel.
