There’s a shortcut to turning speech back on: Just press the spacebar and your previous thumb key--the one on the very left of the unit—together and that should bring back your speech. To toggle the Braille display on and off, try spacebar with the next thumb key, the one at the very right of your unit. As for removing the battery, you’ll need to take the unit out of its case. Once done, turn the apex upside down, and you should feel a switch. It’s a spring loaded switch, so that means you’ll have to hold it open with one hand while you use the other hand to pull out the battery. Hope this helps.
