Good description. That is what I was trying to mean about the eyes.

Hi Cathy,

Smiley faces can vary, but the most common are a yellow circle. The 2 eyes
are most often black filled in circles or ovals. Sometimes the sides of the oval are flat. Think of a rectangle with the short ends curved. The long side of the oval are the sides and the short sides are the top and bottom.
Very few smiley faces have a nose. The mouth is usually a single line that is in a curve with the ends pointing up towards the eyes. Sometimes the mouth has little straight or curved lines at the ends of the mouth.
Depending on the size of the smiley face, this can be too much. It is rare to find a smiley face with any additional features.

HTH,
Annette

Hello all,

I am considering designing a smiley face for one of our greeting cards but need to know exactly how folks draw a smiley face. Do they draw a circle with a face inside it or simply draw eyes nose and mouth? Do they include ears or hair? Anything else I should know to create a realistic-looking smiley face.

Thanks for any help.

Have a great day!!

Cathy F
