Hi all,

Those of you who know me well, know that I love to dig into projects. Well,
geography has always interested me, which of course, is why I loved that
wooden united states puzzle so well.
I took on a project of learning all I could about the geography of the US. 
I first used Wikipedia to read about every state and copied information
about the latitude and longitude coordinates for the state itself as well as
all capitals and major cities in the state.

Then I began creating excel spreadsheets. For those of you who don't know,
these are files made up of tiny boxes in which data can be placed. The
latitude and longitude figures are used to tell how far north/south or
east/west a place is located. So I made a map using the latitude and
longitude coordinates to create a picture of where each state was located in
relation to others adjoining it. 
Next I created a more elaborate file with all major cities in the US plotted
via their latitude and longitude coordinates. 
I have also created a file for the counties of Ohio.

So, I can check my maps anytime I want to find out where cities and/or
states are located. 
<smile> this was how I was able to describe to Terry K where the various
cities in Texas were located.

Well, enough of my babbling, I must go and feed the dogs their dinner and
then have my own.
