Hello All,
On Dec. 4 2015 I was implanted with a cochlear implant on my right ear. On 
Jan. 4th 2016 the implant was activated (turned on). Lots of bells and 
whistles and everything sounds like it's underwater.
My sister texted me I should take my head out of the toilet! I'd say that 
qualifies for a "Gibbs smack to back of head move"! LOL Good thing she lives 
so far away!
Day 1 progressed with the bells, whistles and waterlogged sounds, however I 
was able to id the sound of the turn signal while vehicle in motion where b4 
I only heard it when vehicle was at a standstill, electric windows squeaks 
when rolled up or down, toilet flushing actually has a melody! no need to 
comment further on that subject, lol. By the end of the evening I was able 
to understand some words and sentences, depending on who was speaking.

Oh, and all this is while listening with only the ci, no hearing aid in the 
other ear

Day 2 Everybody is a robot!! The bells and whistles have subsided somewhat, 
not so much of a waterlogged sound, more mechanical sounding. This morning I 
was able to hear the coffee brewing.Still have a long ways to go but am 
excited about this new journey ahead.
Since the majority of my hearing loss has been in the higher frequency 
range, we are concentrating on training my brain to hear and id those 
sounds, so right now I'm hearing noises at that level. I hesitate to call 
them sounds as I've not identified them yet, these are sounds I've either 
never heard before or has been so long since I've heard them I don't 
remember them.
