How large in measurement should each of these balls be before you felt them?  Should you wrap them tight or loose?

Do you have to worry about using the balls with similar colors of clothes or does it not matter?

Thank you for this chat. I really enjoyed hearing this one. Thinking about this idea, for those who do a craft sale. These balls would make up fast, and sell really well. You could decorate the outside for the holiday or season we are in like hearts for Valentine Day or Shamrocks or Easter Eggs and people would sell out of them. Like Carol said she purchased them for $7 each. Hey, Terry P. get those balls rolling for convention, you will sell a bunch. Great, fun idea. Thanks Ramona.

Annley, the antistatic balls are made by winding a ball at least 3 inches in 
diameter of wool yarn. Wind it tight.   Use up your partial skeins that you 
don't need or find some at a garage sale.  You can  use any color you want or several colors.  If you want to decorate the outside of the ball with a contrasting color, try to be sure that the outside is all one color.  Then you can take a yarn needle and make a design or just an abstract design on the outside to hold all the ends and loops in place. Go under as much yarn as you can for about two inches, then over the top for two or three inches. 
That is how I get the abstract design.  I had black wool yarn, so almost any color looked good, and you don't need a design on the outside.  But you do need to hold all the rounds of yarn in place by running a yarn needle with 
yarn through the ball.   I just wash the balls in a washing machine using 
warm or hot water.  Then run them through the dryer.  You could use a more sophisticated way of felting, but this will work.  Then put them in the dryer with your clothes, and the weight of these balls will keep the static down. I recommend using two balls at a time.

I let some friends knowthat I was looking for some scrap wool yarn, and a person that likes to look for yarn at garage sales brought me some.  She said most of it was ugly, but she liked the balls with the black.  So they sold very well at our church's craft sale.

Carol told us she had bought something similar at a craft sale.
