There is a knitting technique called Entralock.  It uses a short row
knitting technique that create squares tilted to look like diamonds and
around the edges will be triangles.  The technique is one of those things
where you just have to read the pattern, and trust it.  

I will try to search for a scarf pattern for you.

Is there a way to do this in just two colors by either crochet or knit.

Yes, I am still trying to do the checkerboard pattern. But I would like to
have someone walk me through it step-by-step by phone if possible if it's
not possible that I may just have to switch into a single color I want to do
this to color since this is something my friend had requested. I can also do
it by Skype as well. My Skype information is in the previous email that I
posted.

I am trying to do this scarf but need some help to do this right.

I think I have it down but I want to make sure I am not having the strands
