I am not sure what you mean by hang outs.  We do have teleconferencing and
we have phone numbers for them, too.

Terry had never taught an email class before and she was just expressing her
opinion and her preference from now on.

Hi Terry, 

You have the right to choose the teaching style that works of you just as
students have choices about taking your classes. 
What about teleconferencing like Skype or Google hangouts?
