[Nfb-krafters-korner] Do you look at what your hands are doing?

Hi,

Yes, My head is almost always positioned towards what my hands are doing, or
what my brain thinks I should be looking at. When I started to use a cane
and then a dog guide, I had to learn to walk with my head held up.

When I moved away from putting my face right up to the paper when I was
writing to using a CCTV to write, the funniest thing happened when I used a
pencil and eraser. Many times when you use an eraser to remove pencil marks
from your paper there are little rubber eraser crumbs left all over your
paper. You would have to use the side of your hand to brush them away,
and/or blow them off of your paper. When I was using the CCTV and had to
erase something, I can't tell you how many times I used my hand to brush the
eraser crumbs off of my paper from under the camera and at the same time
blew at the screen where I was watching what I was doing. I can assure you
that this was not all that effective, just as my looking at things is not
effective now but I do it anyway. Old habits die hard!

Annette

Do you look at what your hands are doing when you are crafting even if you
can't see them?
If you are concentrating hard on a stitch or whatever, do you find yourself
bending your head closer to your working hands & project?

Cathy mentioned that she does this and so do I.

So what do you do to prevent that neck ache that can developed?

I don't do it when I type and I think that is I look at my screen with my
head leaning on the office chair and I am quite relaxed. I learned that
from medical transcribing before I went blind.

Any thoughts on this mill be appreciated as we don't want those pain in the
necks..

Joyce
