Hi Joyce;
First of all, how many pegs are you using?
Go to the last peg that you wrapped, the working yarn should be coming off
this peg, now, just go backwards around the loom starting with the peg where
the working yarn is and loosen the loop a bit, you will want to be able to
put the tip of your finger between the loop and the peg.
Also, try to wrap the pegs loosely to start with. Hope this helps.
Henry

Subject: [Nfb-krafters-korner] Knitting loom

I spent the entire weekend from Friday until 11 PM tonight trying to knit on
Cindy Wood's new loom that I got Friday afternoon.

I got an oval hat loom with 1/2" spacing pso I could use worstered weight
yarn]. I was very patient with this. When I felt a little flustered I
walked away, but I was determined to do this.

I had gotten a self striping yarn that would match my coat.

Friday night and all afternoon Saturday I sat and wwrapped this loom.As soon
as I would start pulling the stitches over I would come across a peg I
missed when wrapping. So did I say I worked on it Friday night and all
afternoon Saturday? No I pulled it off the loom all that time.

Saturday night I went back trying. I would wrap and feel each one, but
still ended up missing one.

I refused to do anything on it before I went out to my son's Easter dinner,
but when I got home...

I started off again. This timeI wrapped the first row and went back and
felt each one carefully. That worked and all was well. So I decided that I
would not wrap the second row all at one time. I did like 10 stitches at a
time and went back and pulled them over. I managed to skip only one peg,
but caught it and was able to unwrap and re wrap it over. Second row done!
So I started the third row going like 10 wraps at a time. I got up to like
the last 5 stitches on the third row and when I pulled it over, I managed to
pull both of the wraps off the peg. I Tried picking it up and mean while 2
other stitches came off and I could not pick up one and get it back on the
peg and forget it when the other 2 fell off.
So now tell me you experienced loom folks. I did give up for tonight. I am
running a little impatient with this. First question is how what do I do
to loosen up the tightness on the row below? Once I loosen that first
wrapped peg it does give me a little ease to pull one, but I am still
fighting with sosme of them as they are too tight. I am stretching this
yarn out doing this as when I got up to the 3rd row, I could feel the fluff
in the yarn.

How do you avoid pulling both stitches off a peg? Maybe if it was a little
looser I could hold on to the top loop and pull over the bottom loop without
struggling.

Once you do drop a stitch how do you pick it up? I can't even feel the loop
of the stitch.

I guess my biggest question is how do you loosen up while doing this? When
you wrap where on the peg do you try to wrap the yarn. It seems like I am
doing it up near the head and I do pull them down to the bottom before
wrapping the next row.

Tomorrow is another day.

Looking for any advise. You know I could have knitted this hat by now with
circular needles if my hand was not so numb. I figured this would be easier
as I seem to be doing a lot with my right hand.

Joyce
