Greg,

The NFB Krafters Division 8 years ago had its first class via telephone
conference call. The people back then were very excited and wanted more
classes. For 8 years I have put my effort in giving the people what they
want. I promised this division would give to the blind crafting classes
meant and prepared for the blind of all types. There are no other places
not only here in the USA, but around the world that offer classes prepared
with the Blind as number one crafter. So you are dam right craft classes
rate up there pretty high as long as I am President of the NFB Krafters
Division. I will promote the classes that are offered and I thought it is
pretty clear that encouraging other visually impaired folks, helping them
learn and share the tools and ways that all of us have
Learned to accomplish creating our crafts.

I am sorry you will not consider teaching classes to all. It takes time,
preparation, and knowledge to prepare for giving a class here. It is not a
decision made today and give the class tomorrow. I really don't know of any
school, class, craft class or music or any other type of class that you can
go and knock on the teacher's door and expect to be taught on that same
day. It has been agreed by teachers and leaders here that a class needs a
minimum of one month for telephone classes from the time they are posted to
the website to the first day of class. It gives time for folks to sign up
for the class, purchase their supplies and be ready to work along with the
teacher making the project. It takes a minimum of at least 5 weeks for
email classes from time it is posted to the website. We allow an extra week
to prepare the email list.

We only take teachers who are devoted enough to do this. I am so proud of
our teachers. They do all of this for each of the students. They will work
one on one with the students when needed and they are the best. The
teachers do this out of the kindness of their hearts and love of sharing
with others. They sure don't do it for money. Likewise the division don't
get any funding from anywhere. Where else can you get 87 classes in a
year's time for $20. We all should thank those who are pitching in and
providing the classes and all the back ground work that makes this possible
for each and every one of you.

Joyce Kane
