Well, lets see, grape venigar, cheery cuecumbers, or how about water mellon! I'm with you. Would there be enough sugar to make them sweet pickles or would they be a very weak flavored sour pickle?
Linda

No. Sorry. But, that sounds gross. What flavor of kool-aid would go good with pickles? I just can't imagine this one.

I looked up the coolade pickles. Recipe follows:
One gal pickles.
2 pkg coolade
2lb sugar.
Drain brine from pickles and save it.
Cut large pickles in half and return to jar.
Mix sugar and coolade in brine.
Pour over pickles.
Sounds like fun, but, I don't think I will try it.

I'm hoping to get enough cucumbers from the garden to make pickles. I also have dill growing.

We shall see what happens.

Nothing better than home make dill pickles. However, I never did process them in a water bath. I don't rember every losing any either.

Yum, dill pickles! Easy to make. Well in comparison to the 7 day sweet pickles that my Mom used to make. For the dills; the clean hot mason jars (full of cuucs and other stuff) are filled to near top with brine. Using a liquid alert on side of jar makes this doable for me. After sealing the jar, place it in the canner for processing. . I’ve done canning / preserving, mainly peaches, pears and apricots and the utensils that go with this process makes it again doable. The exception for me is when a jar falls over in the canner filled with hot water. very difficult to get out.
It is an all day job with lots of pouring of hot brine. .
I no longer do the canning as we do not eat that much fruit and we are in Mexico for the winter. I have done some selsa type preserves, but they are in small jars.

cuucs; phonetic abbreviation for cucumbers.
