[Nfb-krafters-korner] learn to make braille drawings

Draw the item and use dots for one color, slanted lines for another and the full or part of a cell for the other.
This gives you4 colors to work with. The blank space is your fourth color.

I have thought of attempting to turn plastic canvas designs into braille designs and vise versa. Just, where is the time!!!

Try thinking of color as texture. You could use all sorts of fabric to make pictures by cutting out pieces and gluing, sewing, just enjoying, ... and be creative. The problem with colored paper is that it may feel the same. But, again, texture can make it interesting like foil wrapping paper, copy paper, sandpaper, paper towel, and on and on. You could just enjoy the differences or could even label them as colors in your mind or actually use colored paper with different textures. Explore the scrapbooking section of a craft store! If you want lace, use a lace doily for example. The main thing is enjoy and create.

Can fabric paints be used on paper?

Some of those can be felt. I'm not sure how hard they are to use. I've
only used the puff paint a few times for labeling things.

When I could see I loved to color. People laugh at me because I say one of
the first things I would do if I could suddenly see is get that giant box of
crayons and color, color, color! I would also go to the closest library and
open as many books as I could and read a few words here and there.

I hope you can find some good ideas for adding color.

Nella

Hello Linda,
I had exactly the same experience! Sighted people don't get them either; my
Mum thought the cake with a building or house with towers.
There are simpler drawings. The heart, for example, is very obvious.
There's a print letter H in the "have fun with drawings" seminar.
Sighted people do understand the pumpkin. Download the resource list files
from the first drawings seminar at Hadley. It was something like draw with
your "Braille Writer."

I'm determined to find other designs. I really really want to create a
flower or even flowers. I'm already thinking about the mechanics of a Celtic
Cross.

I was going to ask everyone how they add colour to their drawings in a
tactile way? What I mean is, in a way you can keep track of what ever it is
while you're creating it. I thought about using coloured paper which is a
short cut for things like leaves. Are there any tactile drawing pens or
anything which are colourful?

Very best wishes,
Sandra.
