If you plan for the gords to lay on the ground, it will be helpful to spread
straw under the veins.  The gords will decay by lying on the ground.  The
gords need light, as well.  The veins will cover the ones on the ground and
prevent the light from hitting them.

I think they are 8 to 10 inches tall.  They grow into very long vines.  I
think we have to trim the vines to get the gords to grow larger. I am going
to put wire supporters over them, more to find them and tell them apart than
anything else, but the supports will be helpful with the smaller gords I
think.  The large ones will have to stay on the ground.  If they grow as
large as I am hoping, they will be heavy in the fall.   I will let you know.

How big were the plants?

I am so curious to hear how they do.  I've never planted them so am very
interested in your experience.

I mostly plant produce and a few flowers.

Just in case anybody wants to know, the gord plants are in the ground.  The
lady sold us some stuff called Mike which is supposed to make them grow
faster at first, so we will see.  Tomorrow and Saturday are supposed to be
hot and sunny, just what they need.
