Thanks, I would appreciate it if Joyce could post the info to buy one of the
abacus bracelets.

Hi Bernice,

My preferred row counter is an abacus bracelet. Joyce knows of a site that
sells them. It has 2 strands of beads. One strand might have small beads
or textured beads, and the second strand might have larger beads or smooth
beads. There are usually 9 or 10 beads on each strand. There is usually
some type of loop that each strand passes through. When you want to count 1
row, you slide 1 bead from one of the strands through the loop to the other
side of the bracelet. When you are ready to start row 2, you move a second
bead from that same strand through the loop. You keep doing this until you
have completed 9 rows. When you start the 10th row, you slide the beads on
the first strand all back to the other side of the loop, and slide 1 bead
from the second strand through the loop. This beads represents 10. When
you start row 11, leave the 10 bead where it is and now slide a 1 bead
through the loop. It is very much like an abacus. Depending on your
pattern, you might not need to count past 9, so the second strand can be
used to keep tract of each set of rows (pattern repeats) you have done.

When I do not have my abacus bracelet or my actual abacus, I've used
creative things like pennies, pasta, beans, paperclips, jellybeans, cough
drops, etc. and moved them from one container to another, or from 1 pocket
to another. Sometimes I use a large round stitch marker, and clip a locking
stitch marker on it to indicate each row or pattern repeat.

HTH,
Annette

Hi again,

I corrected my mistake and have gotten markers from upstairs. I am off and
running again. I used to use my braille abacus to keep track of row
numbers, but I have absolutely no idea of where it is. I got two small 6 oz
Tupperware containers, put 8 pieces of macaroni in one, and each time I go
round I move a piece to the second container.I have a cover on the top one
so if it falls, which it already has, I don't lose track of which row I
completed.

If there is a blind friendly row counter out there I would be glad to hear
of it.

Bernice and the sweet Octane.
