I have both the Echo and the Echo Dot.

The dot is about the size of a large can of tuna.

It also has the sound of a speaker coming out of a large can of tuna.

It does all the same things that the full Echo does.  It comes with a cable so you can hook it to your own speaker and then have much better sound.

I keep the Echo in the kitchen where I spend a lot of time and want the good sound of the Echo speakers, without taking up too much room putting in a bigger system.  I keep Dot upstairs in the family room as she can hook up to the Bose speakers up there and I can then have great music by my computer.

The third option is the Echo Tap.  This one isn't hands free like Echo and Dot are.  You need to push a button and talk to it.  This is nice if you are worried that Echo is listening to every word that is being said in your home.  The other nice thing about the Tap is it is cordless.  So if you want to take it out on the deck and you're within range of your Y-Fi you have all the conveniences of Echo but wirelessly.

Terry, this one does not have the speakers. You have to attach to your own or buy some. Maybe Joyce knows more, but I think does the same thing the other units do, but research to be sure. Dixie do you know if there are  any differences?

Thanks for posting this to us. I have a question. I do not have this yet but looking to get one. Is what you posted for 49 dollars an addition to the Echo, or the echo itself. I read so much about this, but the echo I have been reading about cost anything from 149 and up. That is why I am confused about this 49 price. If you know, will you please let me know, I understand what it does but am I reading this correctly? I think I am reading it is an addition to echo in another or additional room. Need to know more about this before buying one. Thanks.
