My dad, a machinist made me a pot holder loom by spot welding nails onto a
frame he made.  The loopers stayed on better.  In fact, we could make small
purses by making two or three pot holders on top of each other; taking off
three sides by running all three loop ends through the next three.  I think
we put zippers in one of these and left some open on top.  That would be
harder with the commercial looms because the loopers would slide off the
posts too easy.

I still have my old pot holder loom.  I'm not sure I can remember how to
take one off the loom.  I saw bags of the loops at Hobby Lobby.  Think I
will have to get it out and try it again.

That is a memory for a lot of us making potholders on a loom.  I learned
that up at the play ground at the school during the summer when I was a kid.

Actually, I think it was last year I taught a class on making potholders.  

Harrisville still makes the potholder looms and have those wonderful cotton
loops.  Their prices have gone up since I was a kid.  Harrisville has come
out with a larger potholder loom that measures 10" square.  They make the
larger loops, too.

I  was just asked about the potholder looms on this list.

Joyce and all, when I was a girl, maybe 9 or 10, I used to make pot holders
on a loom and sell them in the small town where I lived. I found it to be a
very relaxing and easy craft. The most difficult part for me was taking the
pot holder off the loom. That took me awhile to figure out but I did it.
