Hi Bernice and Sweet Octane, I'd say that you got taken badly.
the realtor misrepresented the house, the moving company sent "Little girls" 
to move you, In okne way, it all comes down to money, the realtor wanted 
his/her commission on the sale of the house, the movers wanted all of the 
money that they could get out of you.
I feel like everyone took advantage of the blind woman.
I hope that you can get some kind of compensation out of all of this mess, 
good luck.

What a nightmare.  I wouldn't have signed the contract without going through 
the house at least one more time.  A house is a big investment and it should 
be done right.  Movers are a nightmare, too.  I have heard so many stories 
about movers taking people for more than they quoted and holding their 
belongings as hostage.  Do you have a local newspaper or TV station that 
helps people out in these situations?  Or is there a Better Business Bureau 
in your area?  They need some true and honest exposure about their business 
practices.  Good luck to you.

When my husband and I bought our first house together, we found out several 
things about the house that I didn't like.  Didn't find out till a while 
after the closing.  We just had to deal with it.  Sometimes you don't know 
some things about your home until you've lived in it.  We had a split level 
home and in the bedrooms, there was a small gap between the floor and the 
bottom of the walls so that air came through that space.  I don't know how 
one could build homes that way.  I should have done some research to find 
out if this was to code, but didn't.  Now it's someone else's issue.  We 
sold that house 18 years ago.

Someone tried that with me when I
moved, but I told him I had no more money
and I only paid what he had quoted me. He said
he didn't know I had so much,

pointed out that I told him everything I had, and it

report your realtor to
someone, because
there are very strict guidelines to classify something as

If you
read my post from last night, you know I was scammed.
Remember I
said storage on the second floor
with 3 bedrooms on the first.  I kept
asking to go through again, but was told I had
to wait.  I went in 2 days
before the
closing, and guess what?  There are only 2 bedrooms on the
first
floor.  I asked the realtor where the
third bedroom was and she said on the
second
floor.  I said, "what in hell are you talking about?
Nobody in their
right mind would think that
unfinished space is a bedroom."  I've been
taken
with nothing to do about it.  I am
trying not to say I hate the house and
what
it represents, but I do.

I
am trying to make the best of it.  My handy man is
installing a stacking
washer and drier in
the corner of my kitchen.  This means he has to do
electrical, plumbing, and venting work.  I
have given the main bathroom to
the cat.
There is no good place for the litter box without going up
or down
steep steps.

The mover charged me almost twice the amount he
estimated.  Then, they put
everything I had
in the storage pod in the garage instead of in the house.
They said they would come back after convention
to put the stuff in the
house.  When I
called to schedule this, the owner kept trying to make it
my
fault.  I'm still trying to get the
stuff into the house.

When I got back from the convention, I could
barely walk.  I limped badly to
and through
the airports.  The guy that helped us was already
pushing
someone in a wheelchair, or I would
have taken that option.  I will
certainly
be in better shape next year if I go, because I will know
how much
walking is necessary.

Needless to say, I haven't
had time or energy to work on any craft projects.
At least, I know where the craft bins are.

So, I hope you are extremely
vigelent when you buy your house and move.

Okay, Bernice, I am calling on
you to send up prayers for us. We have
cleaned out and sold our lake house and are in
the process of doing some
remodeling and
packing up our house to put it on the market (hopefully in
a
couple of weeks). We had one place that we
put an offer in for but then
backed out.
Another place that we really wanted, the older lady is
having a
hard time letting go (apparently
her kids have been after her for three
years
to move in with one of them) and really liked her place and
it was
priced right but she doesn't know
when she will be ready to sell.

So, now we are having to start the looking
process over. It is difficult to
find
something the size we need, in our price range, and within
paratransit
range.

It is a cape, but the upstairs
isn't finishe all the wayd. It has a floor
and walls, so it will be good for storage.
Off the kitchen there is a
fantastic family
room with windows on 3 sides and a sky light.  The sun
was
pouring down through it when we were
there.  Most of the windows are bay
windows
with room to display lighthouses.  The master bedroom has a
full
bath with a standup shower, not a
tub.  That's okay because with my awful
joints, I never get down in the tub anyway.
There are 3 bedrooms.  I will
make one of
them into a laundry/office.  The livingroom has a fireplace
with
mantle for more lighthouses.  I
can't wait to start packing and getting back
in there to see where I want all of my
furniture.
