How about a baby blanket, where there is a large stripe or square for each
season.
It relates to weather and is easier and you get to choose the colors.  Also
there is a lot less color changing!

You could do an octagon blanket and rotate the colors!
How about lite blue for winter, pink for spring, yellow for summer and green
for fall.
You could do a one piece, granny square and rotate the colors, twice, too.

Henry,

You could gather the daily temperatures for 1 year, or retrieve historical
data from a weather sight such as Weather Underground.  Then when you are
ready to start the blanket you can keep on going without having to wait.

Good Morning Annette, by what you said about ravelry, I gather that you
don't like that site very much?
I can't see myself tying up a pair of needles or a loom for a year to make
such a blanket. could any of you?

I had never heard of a weather or temperature blanket before either.  I do
like things with interesting construction and/or patterns, so I could not
help looking it up.  I can assure you that as interesting as it sounds, I
will not be making it.

There is a book by Myra Wood called Crazy Lace: An Artistic Approach to
Creative Lace Knitting.  It is not available on BARD nor BookShare.  I would
love to find an accessible copy.

Knit Picks has a pattern for purchase, $1, called Roll of the Dice Shawl.
Rolling the dice determines your lace pattern.  Now this is on my To-Do
list.

There is another pattern for $1.98 called Dice Roll Shawl.  The description
of this one says that the roll of the dice determines the width of your
stripes, and there are no purl stitches.  I could not figure out what
website I was on.

There does appear to be a free downloadable dice roll pattern on Ravelry.
For me, getting patterns off of Ravelry ranks right up there with weaving in
ends.
