Subject: [Nfb-krafters-korner] Sunday question

So, I have a set of stacking drawers in my living roomed, the top drawers of which contain the yarns I want ready for use (the rest are in a giant, probably-four-feet-long bin at the foot of my bed), a quilted bag containing a ga-zillion crochet hooks (got sick of losing them at different places when I took crafting on out-trips), caps for knitting needles, cable needle for knitting, Christmas bells for the knit holiday sweaters I like to make for people; and Braille patterns I’ve transcribed for myself, plus books. At my “craft station” (my sofa, really), I have a large basket containing yarns for projects I’m doing, a yarn barn and some cassettes of more patterns (though may consider moving those to the craft-pattern dept. in my set of drawers—and wouldn’t Emily, my cat, just love a basket like my craft basket—it’s round, probably 8 inches deep and a foot and a half or more around), and on my right are my Perkins, plus a 2-gallon zipper plastic bag for whatever my going project is, and resting under or near my NLS equipment are my current crochet hook, one of my tactile tape measures (the other is usually in the zippered bag for the project I’m usually doing away from home, which is with the rest of my away-stuff in a knapsack), and a pair of folding scissors for easy retrieval when I need them. Lastly, I have one of those wicker sewing boxes for when I need to do mending—the usual suspects, threads in a small zipper bag, tube or liquid hemming stuff, hem clips, pins, Braille color tags, a rarely-used-but-sometimes-necessary seam ripper... My yarn, before storing in whichever place it’s designated for, is usually stored in plastic shopping bags, with a card-stock Braille label describing its color, and possibly, a yarn sleeve to which I’ve attached a sample, so that, if I need to go to a craft store to get more, it’s easy to tote with and show what I need. So, there you have it!
