[Nfb-krafters-korner] nightmare with circular knitting

One thing that helped me when I was first practicing making circular
knitting was to cast on and knit about fifteen rows first. Then I could
better tell if the stitches were lying flat. I then joined the ends,
knitting in the round and found it easier not to twist the stitches. I had a
bigger piece of straight-knit fabric to work with.

When I finished the practice swatch-thing, I sewed the end closed where I'd
done straight knitting, so what I had was a doll-sized neck warmer, or
little bag, open on both ends until I sewed one up. I then stuffed a small
blanket inside and it became a pillow with a surprise blanket inside.

This worked so well I made several, for different sized fleece blankets I
had lying around the house. I cast on a random number of stitches on a
16-inch circular, nit straight for a while, back and forth, then started
knitting from the tail end to create a round. I got all these different
sized little bigs to stuff my blankets in. Now I have sofa pillows that are
stuffed with blankets for keeping warm when snuggling on the sofa. And the
parts with the most mistakes are in back where nobody can see my goofs.

Susie, don't let it make you dizzy. The first stitch of the second row is
made in the first stitch you cast on, the one with the tail. That's why you
bring the end of the cast on stitches on the right-hand needle to the
left-hand needle; pull both ends of the cast-on row to the ends of the
needles so you don't have loose yard between the end stitches; and just knit
the first cast-on stitch as you conjinue to knit around the circle.
cheers, Ramona
