Thanks, Annette, I have not knitted for her dolls. I usually sew. This
gives me an idea. I can use up myscrap yarns.

Subject: [Nfb-krafters-korner] Knitted Doll Clothes

I've made knitted hats, scarves and ponchos for my daughter's American Girl
and Twin dolls. I attempted to make a skirt, but that did not turn out, and
I never had the time to really figure it out.

The poncho was very simple to make. Knit 2 rectangles. The short edge is
approximately 1/3 - 1/2 the length of the long edge. Sew the short edge of
Rectangle 1 to the long edge of rectangle 2 all the way at the end of that
long side. You now have a print capital "L". Rectangle 1 is the vertical
piece of the "L", and rectangle 2 is the horizontal piece.

Next sew the loose short edge of rectangle 2 to the closest long edge of
Rectangle 1. Be careful not to twist the rectangles. When you are done,
and you lay the poncho flat so that there are 2 layers of fabric, it sort of
looks like a heart with points instead of nice rounded edges.

I usually make the cast on and bound off edges the short edges of the
rectangles, but you do not have to make it that way. The stitch pattern is
whatever you want, garter, stockinet, lace, etc. I recommend that you start
out with making very small rectangles to practice assembling the poncho.
Maybe 1.5 inches by 2 inches. This will also help you to figure out how big
the patterns have to be for the doll's poncho.

I think I found the original pattern on Lion Brand for a child. Given the
inaccessibility of the Lion Brand site, I highly doubt that you will be able
to find the pattern. You might be able to find it somewhere else.

I want and need to make doll clothes for my granddaughter's birthday in
March. No, I have not taken any steps toward accomplishing this except to
recognize the need. I need to be motivated!

So once again it is, want to know Wednesday. I planned on getting this out
earlier in the day, but things got a little out of control around here.

Do you have certain projects, craft goals or completely new crafts on your
bucket list?

If so what are they and have you taken any steps to accomplish them?

I think the responses on this should be a lot of fun.

Nella
