Good Morning Nella and Everyone, o k Nella, being the Rooster of all of you
lovely hens, I will do my best to answer these questions with the correct (
and funny ) answers.
Are you  all ready? Here goes!
1. Basting and Tacking To hold down a seam with binding materials or short
pieces of thread.
funny Answer Basting What you do to a turkey to keep it moist during
roasting.
Tacking A sailing term for tieing the sails to the masts.
2.Casing To fold and sew a large piece of material over as for a pillow
case.
funny Answer The outer covering of a hot dog or sausage. Or what a burglaar
does before breaking into a home or business.
3. Darning To repair a hole in the toes or heels of socks Funny Answer A
nicer word for cussing For example oh darn it, I forgot to call Nella today.
4. Gathering To bunch up material for a ruffley appearance.
Funny Answer When a bunch of people get together.
5. A hem When you fold over the raw edges of materials and sew them down as
for the hem of pant cuffs.
Funny Answer Clearing your throat ( ahem ) 6. A Seam To sew 2 pieces of
materials together.
Funny Answer To make something apparent.  We seem to be lost.
7. Selvage The pre finished edges of materials.
Funny Answer To save something. We selvaged the clothes from the flood.

Once again it is Wednesday and I actually remembered today. Lol



I'm going to give you a few sewing terms to see if you know the definitions.
I will also give you a hint; I found all these terms online.



1.       What does baste or tack mean?  The term tack is used it England.



2.        What does casing mean when used in sewing?



3.        What does darning mean?



4.        Explain the term gathering.



5.        What is a hem?



6.        Describe a seam.



7.        Do you know what the words selvage means?



Feel free to try to answer some or all of these and please share your
answers.  I promise, it will be fun.
