We get really excited about other family owned and operated companies manufacturing yarn-crafting tools in the US, so we jumped on this new swatch gauge when we read about it on Knitter's Review<http://knitdenise.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d323bad9ec85794f14846600e&id=efe73f05b6&e=9dc5bcbe89>.  Like so many things Clara Parkes has reviewed (including our pink Denise Interchangeable Knitting Needle kit<http://knitdenise.us9.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=d323bad9ec85794f14846600e&id=cd70094957&e=9dc5bcbe89>, back in 2008!), the interest drawn means lots of orders pouring in, and Akerworks is scrambling to keep up with the demand.  We're happy to get to offer this handy tool on our retail website (after pulling out one each for our personal stashes).

This is a simple little tool, but makes doing a gauge swatch both easier and more enjoyable.  Since swatching is no one's favorite part of a project (that I know of), this is pretty major.  We hope you enjoy them as much as we are!

We feel very proud to manufacture locally.  In the summertime we visit farmer's markets and local orchards, and as much as possible buy produce at the grocery store that's sourced locally.  It just makes sense to make our knitting needles and crochet hooks here in Virginia, too!  It means having a personal relationship with our manufacturer and getting to visit his workshop regularly, getting to know the people who work the machinery and assemble sets. Becoming a part of this business has made us realize how many anonymous hands make the objects we use every day, and we are grateful to get a glimpse into that world.  With much appreciation for those hands AND for your hands - the ones that use our needles and hooks to create with yarn!
