I don't download them.  I just read through the pattern.  I have opened a document and typed the instructions for myself.  Worked pretty good.  Lol!
The site has instructions for basic stitches since you are a beginner.  I have been told that you can find lots of videos on youtube too.  Might be worth checking out.
