Nella, I have somewhere in this house a seen I put on my coffee table of ice
skaters by a lamp post. So a lot of objects with Velcro she can make into
lovely designs for others she cares about. There is the glue stick that she
could herself put the Velcro on the bottom of objects and place them on the
landscapes she chooses to make. How about a puppy bowl, as seen on TV, with
sides for her landscapes. She could make all kinds of seen. Terry miniatures
could be place on the flannel for Christmas seens, valentines seens, spring
seen, they would make lovely center pieces on tables, when she visits
friends as a thank you gift.

I like thinking out of the box, smile. We don't want to insult her
intelligence.

Also, with one hand every part of her hand has to be used to accomplish
stuff, not just her fingers.

Becky

Becky I think one could do so much with this concept.

Shapes could be made of clay, paper, fabric wood or foam. You could also
use small found objects, such as stones, toys, pieces of glass, pieces of
tile and well, just about anything.

I love the idea of making certain scenes for certain people.

Jumping off Nella's idea of using clay to make shapes then using Velcro or
magnets to make pictures. I love that idea. Picture a green felt square, on
the square are a park bench, trash can, sculptures, child's ball, very
artistic idea. Or animals milling around on another. What a lovely gift to
give someone. Maybe a football theme, goal posts, base Brum, Figure of a
cheerleader, football player flerting. Or baseball theme: baseball, bat, hot
dog sitting on a picnic table, baseball diamond. Sorry my creative juices
are just having so much fun with this idea. Oh squares for a checker board,
smile.

Becky

But again, start with simple shapes she can be successful doing.

Sorry I'm posting this so late, but the day has just gotten away from me.

Linda's question about the client with one hand has really made me stop and
think. I can't imagine not being able to do something with my hands. I
tend to be a little fidgety, so having something to do really helps me. I
can't imagine how frustrating it must be to want to do things and not be
able to. She can probably picture crafts and projects in her mind, but
doesn't have a way of executing them.

How many of you have ever wanted to participate in a craft, but were unable
to do so because of your disability?

If so, what was the craft?

What equipment or adaptive techniques do you use to make crafting possible?

What new crafts would you like to try, but you're not sure how to make them
accessible?

I look forward to this discussion.

Nella
