Tactile Art Club Announcements and Felting Instructions!

We had a great time at our March meeting of the Tactile Art Club thanks to
Linda and Bill Trudeau and Trina Boyd-Pratt.
a pink piece of paper with a Braille elephant image on the left and some of
the Braille instructions on the right.
BRAILLABLES
Trina is a TVI who has unstintingly raised generations of Braille readers
and cane travelers in the Denver area. At our meeting, Trina taught folks
how to create tactile pictures on the Perkins Brailler. Her elephant image
was a big hit. Trina has a book full of images and directions available. You
can contact her at: trinaboyd at comcast.net or 303-487-8796

Thanks, Trina, for all you do.

Eight members of the Tactile Art Club are covering styrofoam egg or ball
shapes with many thin layers of colorful wool. Some people have on gloves
and others are working with bare hands. Everyone has a 16oz cottage cheese
container filled half-way with warm water, a nylon knee-high stocking and a
bar of Ivory soap in front of them.)

FELT MAKING
Bill and Linda travel over 60 miles to join us for Art Club and we are so
glad they do! They were able to tell us the mechanics of what is happening
in the felting process as they directed us through each step. This was a
great project for our club since we were able to complete the entire project
within an hours time. If you would like to try your hand at felt click here
to go to my blog where Bill and Linda's project directions have been posted.
Be sure to send us photos of your projects, we would love to see what you
do. Thanks very much for your generosity, Linda and Bill.

Three youngsters are touching the forth image telling the story of the
Golden Goose. The low relief illustration is made of slate, wood and bronze
and of course gold leaf! It shows a rag-tag parade of our main characters
making their way into town. The towns people, the Princess and her father
the King all begin to laugh.

START A TACTILE ART CLUB
A number of people contact me to ask about remote club meetings. Since I am
convinced that the way we need to share tactile art is as a hands-on
experience I would like to offer this idea. I would be happy to arrange a
conference call for anyone interested in starting their own tactile art
club. Our members can share with callers about how we started our club. We
can also brainstorm with callers who anticipate challenges with their
location and membership.

Let me know if you are interested and I will arrange for a phone number and
time to call. Email me at: ann at acunningham.com

REMEMBER
to bring your artwork for show and tell! Please share your work with us,
experience is the key to learning.
